Balikatan Performing Arts

We are a group of individuals who enjoy entertaining and teaching the world about the Philippine Culture. We do this through our native dances and songs. The Philippine culture is very diversified. We embrace other cultures and add it to our own. This has made us a fusion of these different cultures (American, Spanish, Pacific islands, Asian).
In 1996, a group of friends were asked to perform native Philippine dances at Good Shepherd Catholic Church in Garland, TX. This was to raise money for a new roof and pave the parking lot. The fundraiser was a huge success. Many who attended enjoyed the performances provided by this group of friends. During that time, another Church was planning a fundraiser and asked if they would do the same; Balikatan was formed.

Through time, Balikatan was asked to perform for many charity, community service and fundraising events. The dance troupe continued to grow and add more dancers and performers. The age and cultural background are very diversified. The dances and costumes have become more colorful and elaborate. Other functions and events that this dance troupe perform include: Good Morning Texas, State Fair of Texas parade, Dallas New Year's Parade, Taste of Dallas, Thanksgiving Square,Mayfest in Ft. Worth, Dallas Arts Festival and the 2000 Religious Delegates Meeting, just to name a few.
